Fur on parade at 44th Annual Library Pet Show

The 44th Annual Pet Show was held at the Olney Community Library on Tuesday, June 13. Judges for the event were Cristi Little 2022-23 Children’s Librarian and Chayla Powers incoming Children’s Librarian beginning in the 2023-24 school year.

Participants presented their pets to the judges who spoke with them and asked them questions about their pet. The judges then decided on the pet’s award and awarded them a certificate and bookmark.

Those participating in the Pet Show, their pet and their award were: Grant Blevins, Pancake (bouncy horse), “Most Bouncy” Henry Blevins, Peppermint (bouncy cow), “Most Spotted” Everly Powers, Mila (pink Bird), “Chatty Cathy” Parker Palmer, Rex and Luna (hedgehogs), “Prickly Pair” Logan Betts, Puppachino (stuffed puppy), “Most Clever” Elizabeth Ickert, Babes (stuffed pigs), “Bouncing Bundle of Babes” Dalmer Hargis, Mr. Pickles (guinea pig), “Hairiest” Laney Kimbro, Sniffi (dog), “Most Curious” Jessa, Leo and Huck Branum, Stripes Jr. (kitten), “Luckiest Cat in the Show” Casen Jackson, Sexy (stuffed snake), “Most Original Named Pet” Scarlet Jackson, Rosie (stuffed cow), “Must Huggable” Will Wellman, Shooter (puppy), “Cowboy Award” Heidee Canada, Bennie (puppy), “Most Friendly” Archer Miller, Cru (dog), “Most Talented” Gun Miller, Bowie (dog), “Most Energetic” Thank you to all the participants, parents and judges who made the 44th Annual Pet Show a success.

The next Summer Reading event will be held Thursday, June 22 at 10 am. We will be showing Disney/Pixar’s movie, “Luca.” The 1 hr, 35 min movie is a great story of friendship that reaches beyond where we live and who we really are. All ages are welcome, but parents must stay in the library with their children. Snacks will be available.
