The Food Shack opens in Olney

The Food Shack, Olney’s newest restaurant, recently opened in the old Burger Barn building at 1008 W. Main. The new owner, Chad Burcham, is a born and bred Olneyite and says his family has deep roots in the community.

The Food Shack will serve up burgers, fries, nachos, snow cones and other delicious food.

Some community members posted on Facebook that they thought there would be no snow cone stand this summer and were happy to hear the Food Shack would be offering the delicious summer treat.

Olney resident Judy Averett raved about a banana snow cone from the Shack.

Mr. Burcham scheduled his grand opening for July 4th and planned to give away free snow cones to residents coming out to join the celebration.

The old Burger Barn was in disrepair and quite dirty according to Mr. Burcham, who added that major cleaning and upgrades were needed to bring the restaurant up to code.

The hours of operation are 10 am to 6 p.m. for the kitchen, with snow cones still being served until 7 p.m., Sunday through Friday, closed on Saturday.
