Summer is gone! But, someone forgot to tell the weatherman and Mother Nature. Temps in the 90-100 range do not evoke visions of the fall season! Patience is a virtue, so we just need to wait for it. The crispness and bit of a nip in the early morning hours are omens that fall is inching nearer. It’s just slow like many of us with cane in hand.

Thursday’s birthday bash was quite an event, although LaVerne Woods couldn’t make it due to illness. The cake and ice cream were delicious! Kindred Care comes second and fourth Thursdays to do blood pressure, and they also furnish the birthday cakes. A big THANK YOU to them for all they do for us.

The Olney Area Retired School Personnel group has begun meeting at Cub Center. The September 7meeting allowed people from nearby towns to reconnect and catch up with each other. President Mary Butler directed the meeting with great efficiency and informed us about upcoming events and meetings. The next meeting will be at the District IX Fall Conference on October 12in Wichita Falls. The November 2ndmeeting will be back here at the Center.

Please keep the Oct.16 date on your radar; that’s the pancake breakfast starting at 7:00 A.M.

Y’all come! Tickets can be purchased from any of the Center’s Board Members:Kent Wright, David Ickert, Don Berry, Gay Lynn McClelland, Lauren Sullivan, Valorie Mahler, Pat Curtis, and LaVerne Woods. Or call the Center at (940) 564-2782.

On November 11, Doug Magnason will be here from 10:30-1:00 to do a Veteran’s Day program and to assist any vets with their needs. We are so thankful for all who put themselves in harms way to protect us and our country- We salute you with great pride! Please come and let us honor you and help you on YOUR DAY! If you need transportation to the Center, give Cub Center a call so we can assist you.

Remember that there are no age restrictions here at Cub Center, young or old, you are always welcome. Nutritious meals are great for our health, but it’s the fellowship that nourishes our minds and our hearts. Do come if you can.

We have a bus driven by James Wiley that is available to transport people to the Clinic or rehab, or to the Cub Center for meals or Bingo or special programs. Again, call the Center for more information.

If you are interested in being a volunteer here at the Center, call to set up a time to chat with Jerri Ford.

Remember: You can never do a kindness too soon because you do not know when it will be too late.
