City Council

Olney City Council held their first meeting of the month on June 8, 2020. The meeting began by approving minutes from the previous meeting followed by presenting an employee longevity award.

The council then heard a presentation from Amerisco and then began discussing and establishing who the members will be in the search committee for a new chief of police with former Chief of Police Connie Clay serving his last day the previous week. The Council considered a city administrator to enter into a potential agreement with the House of Mercy for regular maintenance of Tax resale lots.

The council also considered authorizing a city administrator to enter into an agreement with the Olney cemetery association for regular cemetery maintenance. The council was updated on information about latent technology changes for city hall, as well as the police department. Next up on the agenda was to discuss authorizing defeasance and redemption for certain city bonds amongst other things.

A resolution was then considered concerning the next item on the agenda to change signatories on accounts held at the Olney Interbank. The council discussed appointing a civilian administrative officer for the police department in Olney.

Towards the end of the meeting, the council discussed their monthly departmental reports and lastly, discussed city council matters about items of concern to members of the city council. This was a lengthy city council meeting with much substance, as several changes are in the works in Olney.
