Babygarten classes resume in January

Babies looking for an edge in speaking and pre-reading skills can have their parents sign them up for Babygarten classes at the Olney Community Library and Arts Center in January, Director Lori Cox said. Space is limited, so parents should register their little ones as soon as possible, she said.

Babygarten is a fun and educational eightweek series of classes for children 0-3 years that involves songs, rhymes, crafts, and free play to strengthen language and pre-literacy skills, she said. Most importantly, Babygarten is a place children and parents can come to have fun together, which is key to children’s healthy development, she said. Parents can expect a curriculum of songs, rhymes, crafts, “tummy time,” free play with educational toys, and socialization time with other parents and babies. The benefits of Babygarten classes are many, Mrs. Cox said.

The songs and stories expose children to vocabulary on new topics that they may not hear at home. Toys and games aid in developing early motor skills. Reading to babies helps develop their growing brains, builds early socialization skills, and contributes to a lifelong love of reading and literature, she said. Please call the Library at 940.564.5513 to register your child or for more information.
