Activities at The Refuge

Bruin’s Breakfast

Below are some pictures of the Bruin’s Breakfast held at the Refuge every Friday morning for the players, coaches and mentors. Bruin’s stands for Building Respect Unity, Integrity, Nobility and Service. Men start arriving at the Refuge at 5 a.m. to prepare breakfast for more than 50 people. They cooked sausage, bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy. Each week a devotion is given to encourage and instruct the boys on different areas of life.

Fifth Quarters

The Refuge held a 5th Quarter after each of the hometown football games this year for junior high and high school aged students. The 5th quarter ran from after the football game until midnight. Different area churches helped to sponsor each event and supplied volunteers and food for the evening. The youth enjoyed playing basketball, volleyball, nine square, pool and ping pong. The Refuge staff love having 5th quarters and giving the youth a safe place to go and hang out, always encouraging them in God’s word. We do our best to impress upon them that this place (The Refuge) is fun and entertaining, but that will not get them through life and difficult times. The only answer to living life is God and HIS truth and living according to the bible. That is where the fulfillment comes from, living a life for Jesus Christ and surrendering all of your life to him.
