Young County Republicans Prepare for Nov. Election

The Young County Republicans discussed the Texas GOP convention in July at the Aug. 11 meeting, with the GOP voting to make former House of Representative Allen West, the new GOP chairman.

State Senator Pat Fallon has resigned from his Senate seat to run for Texas’ 4th Congressional District in a special election. Fallon will be waiting on his election to vacate his state Senate seat. Fallon is currently holding Senate seat 30, located on the North side of Forth Worth.

The meeting also consisted of discussing the importance of voting in Young County, while not assuming that Republicans and other candidates will have guaranteed wins…..both locally and on the state and national level. The Young County Republicans encourage each registered voter to each invite 10 people that they know in the county to get out and vote this election season. The Young County Republicans discussed options on how they can educate voters on the issues, being able to make help voters better understand the issues and further educate themselves on what and who they are voting for this year.

Mail in voting has become a huge talking point this election season, as many states are controversially attempting to mail ballots to anyone and everyone in there state, without doing the proper background checks and identification of individuals in their states---this can easily lead to voter fraud, as explained by the Young County Republicans.

“Absentee ballots are just fine and have always been a safe way to vote for those who wish to not physically go to the polls, but Mail in ballots lead to fraud,” said a citizen of Graham at the meeting.

Other issues were discussed, including issues that will affect our county, including an upcoming vote in November on Property Taxes.

Young County Republican Party Precinct 3 Chairman, Lane Burgess shared what is needed for a Republican victory, which he believes will start with people getting registered to vote and registered voters getting out to vote.

“We usually have a good turn out in Young County for voting. We saw a good turn out in the primary election, and we are hoping for a good turn out in November,” Burgess said.

Burgess commented on the possibility of Trump’s victory over Biden, “We feel President Trump will be reelected despite the current turmoil. This upcoming general election is the most important election this country has had since it was founded because the country was founded on principles of freedom and individual rights; and we see those rights being taken away every day.

It is important for everyone to vote to protect the rights our forefathers fought for and the rights of future generations,” Burgess said.
