School Board Meeting Updates

Monday, March 18, the Olney School Board held its bimonthly meeting. The meeting was called to order, and a quorum was present for the meeting to proceed. Discussion Items: Attendance for February: Olney ISD reported nearly 70 students absent due to the flu. Renovations: School board members stated everything is on track for the students and teachers to start using the renovated high school. Contracts: Four contracts were extended for teachers and coaches. One contract was approved to hire a new head volleyball coach for the 2020 school year. Board members agreed that the placement of the new coach would further improve and propel the Olney ISD Girls’ Volleyball program into varsity play in the future. Additional contracts extended included contracts for the band director, the athletic director and the librarian. Other Business: The tax resale deed for 301 Hwy. 79 was approved. Members also approved the calendar for the next school year. Next Meeting Date(s): April 8 and April 25 at 6 p.m. at the Olney High School Auditorium.
