The sky is falling, the sky is falling! No, it’s not the wonderful rain we got, nor the silent fog. This time it’s brown, yellow, red, and orange! Oak trees dropped dozens of bushels of leaves to cover lawns and streets with their brown dead leaves and the sycamores shed their yellow foliage to make yards look like crossword puzzles. Each specie of tree contributed its different hue to make quite a colorful sight. Yep, it’s winter!

That big fat moon last week looked much bigger than usual. Maybe because the sky added just the right background for it and the air was crispy clear. Whatever the reason, it was beautiful!

Last Wednesday was a bingo day that happened to coincide with Linda Gray’s birthday. After bingo, we sang “Happy Birthday” to her and wished her many warm wishes. When her hubby gifted her with a chocolate cake, she graciously donated it to our lunch bunch to be served with a dollop of ice cream on the side. What a gal! Thank you, Linda!!

Make a note on your calendars for the 21st...it’s our Christmas meal with yummy ham cooked to perfection! Call ahead to reserve your place at one of our tables. We might even sing a few Christmas carols and give a hug or two. See you there!

A new addition to our cooking staff is Kimberly Watkins, and she does a great job preparing food, setting up our tea and coffee bar, and then cleaning up. That is always done with a smile and sweet greetings. We are so happy to have her to help Nancy prepare our tasty meals. They are a great team and we appreciate them tremendously! Wendell Flanders had a birthday on the 12th, so congratulations to him on that milestone. What a delightful character he is. Buy him a cup of coffee or shake his hand to acknowledge his longevity! Love you, buddy.

Remember the living Nativity Scene at Cumberland Presbyterian church coming up next week. May it not be too cold or windy for those fine folks.

I got my present delivered to the fire department for their drive to collect new toys for children. Have you done that yet? It is a great cause, so please donate a toy or donate for the purchase of one. Make a child happy on Christmas morn! Santa sometimes needs a little help, so put your elf suit on and get to work!

Touch someone with kindness this week!
