Olney’s Amity Club hosts meeting, March 5

The Amity Club held its meeting March 5 at the Hamilton Hospital Education Building. The members were asked to bring guests to the meeting and the members who brought guests had the opportunity to introduce their guest after the meeting was called to order by president Phylis Whitsitt.

The order of business following the call to order was the reading of the Amity Club’s Collect, Roll call, reading of minutes and correspondence and the treasurer’s report. Before the program began, members and guests were invited to eat the finger foods provided by each member.

The meeting was hosted by Mrs. Evelyn Altmiller with co-hostesses Betty O’Dell and Carolyn Penn. Gail Spears was the designated program leader for the “Seasons of Changes” program. Spears introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Christy Caceres, who shared her background along with her future plans as a resident of Olney. Many members of the group asked medical questions that the doctor answered graciously.

The Amity Club was established in 1937. The current club officers are Phyllis Whitsitt (president), Rita Choat (first vice president), Jeanie Spivey (second vice president), Judi Winslow (recording secretary), Gail Spears (corresponding secretary), Lucretia Taylor (treasurer), Ann Lundy (reporter). The members are: Evelyn Altmiller, Judy Averett, Janice Gauger, JoAn Key, Marilyn Norris, Betty O’Dell, Bobby Wright, Nita Hearne and Ronni Walker.

The next meeting is scheduled for April 2, at 3 p.m. at Olney Community Library and Arts Center.
