OARP January and February Meetings

On Jan. 8 Olney Area Retired School Personnel (OARSP) met with First Vice President Candy Key leading. Following pledges led by Sandra Woolley, “Thought of the Day” by Donna Haile and health tip by Lana McQuerry, The program was presented by Kinsi Voss, RN, director of nurses at Throckmorton Hospital. She spoke on ‘Stop the bleed and save lives’ based on military study procedures. Members were given very useful information including information on first aid and the use of a tourniquet. Hosts for the meeting were Ann Price, Rita Choat and Candy Key.

Innovative education was the topic when OARSP personnel met Feb. 5 at St. Theresa’s Parish Hall. President Don Berry called the meeting to order and voiced a prayer. Carroll Woolley led the pledges to the American and Texas flags followed by the “Thought of the Day” by Polly Voss and a health tip by Theresa Henry. First Vice President Candy Key introduced guest speakers Dr. Michelle Cline and Liz Redwine, Superintendent and curriculum director of Throckmorton Collegiate ISD respectively. They spoke about the new and exciting changes happening in Throckmorton schools through the early collegiate high school program in which student graduate with 60 collegiate hours and are well on their way to academic or vocational career success. During the business meeting Gloria Krueger gave the treasurer’s report, Jeanie Spivey spoke about legislative issues, and state convention delegates were discussed. The meeting was adjourned for the enjoyment of refreshments provided by Lana McQuerry, Sue Brown and Kay Strealy.

The next meeting of OARSP will be March 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Parish Hall.
