Living in grace, blessed by mercy

Although the schedule can seem rigorous, to some there is so much more to what is done here and being done currently. Let’s start with the way we are when we get here… We come here with little hope and no faith in ourselves or anything else for that matter. What we deserve is not what we receive when we walk in the door, a waiting smile and no judgement. At first we don’t know if we can trust these people because why would strangers love us with no strings attached? We don’t even love ourselves. We are fed, given a bed and for the first time in a long time a seed of hope is planted. We sleep with no nightmares because we can sleep with both eyes closed. After our bodies start to recover from the abuse we put ourselves through, we are slowly coming back to life.

Breakfast is way earlier than we are used to, but we eat with gratitude. Devotional at 7 a.m. is a taste of the day to come. We set our intentions for the day. We get ready afterwards. We used to think about how much we missed being normal before. It’s finally here. Morning classes and then after lunch we listen to someone who answers questions we didn’t even know we had. This how the growth starts. We continue to mature the longer we are here. To come into a home and be treated as family is just the beginning. We are all so different but so much the same. We were all lost until He found us. Beautiful weaves put us all here at the exact same time. Not the paths we lived, but the paths he meant uniquely for us. And to sit and be among others just like me is where the miracle starts. Being present when the Truth stands above the lies is a sight to behold.

No matter what the schedule looks like we are willfully choosing His path instead of our own. Each of us is unique in our own gifts and we all make a cohesive effort to keep this building a home. We are one body. Each of us helping and lifting each other up when needed. No, we are not perfect, but our flaws is what binds us and our faith is what keeps us here. We don’t stay for the certainty. We stay because we have faith in the mystery. After all, if God is for us then who could be against us? We don’t have to live here; we GET to live here. Living in Grace, Blessed by Mercy.
