Junior Altruistic Fundraiser

The members of the Junior Altruistic Club gathered at the Downtown Gazebo in Olney Wednesday morning, April 3, for a breakfast meeting hosted by Sherry Altmiller, Julie Campbell and Julie Stewart.

President Jan Tyler conducted the meeting prompting officer and committee reports.  The members sold 208 geraniums as a fundraiser to benefit Keep Olney Beautiful, and it was noted that Modern Woodmen of America would match up to $500 of the proceeds.

In upcoming events, several members will attend cooking school April 8, at Fort Worth’s Central Market, and the following slate of officers will be installed at the May meeting:   President - Julie Stewart, first vice president - Gay Lynn McClelland, second vice president - Jennifer Lane, recording secretary - Barbara Calvin, corresponding secretary - Valorie Mahler, treasurer - Sherry Altmiller, reporter - Cathy Marion and parliamentarian - Jan Tyler.

Other members in attendance not listed above were Karen Craig, Julie Hinson, Connie Horany, Tammy Montgomery, Melody Rogers and Minnie Wood.

After the meeting, the ladies collected their geraniums for distribution then dispersed to clean up main street and Tommy Perkins Park.  Members want to thank Hometown Coffee & Tea for the complimentary beverages and Tammy Montgomery for designing and ordering the Junior Altruistic T-shirts.
