First United Methodist Church hosting Harvest Festival, Nov. 10

The First UnitedMethodist Church of Olney (FUMC) will host its 41st Annual Harvest Festival on Sunday, Nov. 10.

A Fall theme is set for the event, and will feature a lunch, pantry items and a silent auction.

The lunch will begin at noon at the FUMC Fellowship Hall located at 110 W. El in Olney. Attendees will have a choice between a hearty and delicious homemade beef stew or chili with all the fixings, cornbread, tea and your choice of homemade pie.

Pantry items such as homemade cakes, pies, breads, casseroles, candies, hot sauce and canned goods will fill the tables. These goodies will be available for purchase just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

A variety of crafted items will be on display for the silent auction, including quilts, blankets, Afghans, cup towels, metal and wood furniture, wall hangings, welded art, homemade food baskets, fancy cakes and more.

“The festivals of the Bible are timed around the harvest season,” said FUMC Pastor Harrell Braddock. “It was the time of year when all the crops had been harvested and the people gathered to give God thanks for the fruit of their labor. It is our tradition to invite the community to gather in celebration with us as we feast and raise funds used to continue the fruit-bearing process through community and connectional mission and outreach.”

FUMC members invite everyone to come eat and participate in the Harvest Festival. Lunch will be by donation, and all proceeds are donated to Christian missions.
