District Attorney extracts pleas for Olney crimes

District Attorney Dee Peavy resolved four criminal cases involving Olney residents or crimes committed in and around Olney with guilty pleas by four individuals in October, her office said in a statement. Darius Noellopan Keilani Paia, 34, of Olney pleaded guilty to assaulting a family or house member by impeding breath or circulation, the statement said. He was sentenced to five years of community supervision and ordered to pay a $500 fine and court costs, the statement said.

Riley Kenneth Ferguson, 31, of Olney pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to three years of community supervision, court costs and a fine of $500, the statement said. The controlled substance was less than one gram of methamphetamine, the statement said. Carlee Louise Wayman, 28, of Olney pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance, including less than one gram of methamphetamine and less than one gram of heroin. She was sentenced to three years of community supervision and was ordered to pay court costs, the statement said.

The district attorney also obtained a guilty plea from Julia Ovalles-Ramirez, 35, of Los Angeles, for smuggling of persons. Ms. Ovalles-Ramirez was sentenced to three years of community supervision and ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and court costs.

She was arrested over Memorial Day weekend outside the Olney city limits at State Highway 114 and Willard Road for smuggling 11 illegal immigrants in a Honda Odyssey van bound for the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, law enforcement officials said.
