Blessed and a Blessing from H.O.M.E.: Cobe Acheson
Some may start a testimony by giving you facts about their life. I ‘ve even heard testimonies that seem like all they talk about is the bad that has happened, and they end it with a remnant of good. All testimonies are for our learning.
I suppose I could talk to you about how my mom took her own life. I could also tell you about my dad dying from 30 years of drinking. I believe those stories would not benefit anyone listening.
If you go to 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 in the King James Bible it will say, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
All the words in the Holy Bible are motivated by God and is good for teaching.
Reproof is a reprimand. Paul is writing to us, letting us know this doctrine will point out our mistakes, show us how to correct ourselves, and instruct us to be righteous, which means to be free from wrong or sin.
(Verse 17) That the man of God (which is us) has the capacity to be perfect, thoroughly equipped unto all good works.
For everybody in this room to truly understand these words written in the bible, you must be saved. You do not have to ask Jesus Christ into your heart to be saved. You are saved by grace. Grace is a gift given to you freely by God, so you may have a relationship with him. God sent his son down here to die on the cross for everybody’s sins.
2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For He (God) hath made Him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
Paul often writes “may be” or “might be “. This lets me know that we have a choice to make. You can choose to follow God or Satan. Jesus said in Mathew 6:24 “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will hold to the on, and despi9se the other. Ye cannot serve God and mam’-mon.
Will you choose to struggle with your flesh? I am 29 years old, and I have not won a single battle! I fold up every time! I have been at the House of Mercy for about two and a half months, and I have learned more in that short time than I have in my lifetime. This book is worth studying! I can come up here and say what I say, and I could just be preaching to the choir. Imay never knows…. But you do! Each and every one of you know where you stand right now with God. For me, I am just getting started!
2 Corinthians 5:13 says “Therefore if any man be in Christ, He is a new creature: Old things are passed away; Behold, all things are become new.” I feel new. I say this as humble as possible without being puffed up or boastful.
I am grateful that Preston Crow and Trena opened the House of Mercy Enterprises. I also thank the volunteers who dedicate their time to explain the bible with detail Thank you! Preston told us in class that it is not the House that fixes people… God does that!
