Babygarten @ Olney Community Library

The Olney Community Library and Arts Center has the Babygarten program now being presented for babies and their caretakers. Babygarten is open to parents/caretakers and babies ages 0-3. Parents/caretakers must accompany their babies to the library and stay with them for the entire program. Babygarten will meet every other Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. starting Friday, Jan. 11, 2019. Parents or caregivers who are interested in participating in Babygarten with their babies should stop by the library to register.

Babygarten is much more than a playgroup! Infants and their caregivers will share nursery rhymes, songs, and books but also get a chance to make fun projects that demonstrate the babies’ developmental milestones—usually a homemade toy or baby book item. Many projects and activities will emphasize the importance of reading to babies AND parents will learn how to do this most effectively. Insight about child developmental stages will also be shared. This class concludes with a free play period.

The Babygarten dates are Friday, Jan. 11, Friday, Jan. 25, Friday, Feb. 8, Friday, Feb. 22, Friday, March 8, Friday, March 22, Friday, April 5, and Friday, April 12.

The first week, Jan. 11, babies and parents will read Wiggle Waggle by Jonathan London and Eat! by Roberta Grobel Intrater. We will create a sponge ball, along with singing fun songs and reciting nursery rhymes and ending with playtime for parents and babies.
