Mary Lucille Hays
Olney ~ Lucille Hays, age 97, a “dyed in the wool Methodist,” was greeted in Heaven by the Lord and a host of family and friends on October 9, 2017 in Olney, Texas. The family will gather for a private graveside service with Reverend Harrell Braddock, pastor of the First United Methodist Church officiating, Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Lucille was born on June 25, 1920 in South Bend, Texas to Frank E. and Flora Belle (Sanders) Harrell. She married David Noel Hays on May 29, 1944 in Graham, Texas. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2000. Lucille enjoyed all forms of bridge, baking, and cooking for her family and friends. She spent her time reading, listening to music, and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Survivors include: One son and daughter-in-law, David Harrell and Diane Hays of Olney, Texas; Two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary and Larry Lewis of Shallowater, Texas, and Susan McCarson of Fort Worth, Texas; Four grandchildren , Brian Hays of Olney, Texas, Benjamin Lewis and wife Stacee of Lubbock, Texas, Kristi McCarson-Leonard and husband Luke of Fort Worth, Texas, Amy Hanes and husband Bobby of Lubbock, Texas, along with Krissa McCarson, the wife of Lucille’s deceased grandson, Clay McCarson; Five great grandchildren, Madelyn and Ellie Lewis of Lubbock, Texas, Maci and David McCarson of Olney, Texas, and Hays McCarson-Leonard of Fort Worth, Texas.
Mrs. Hays was also preceded in death by three brothers, William Harrell, Weldon Harrell, and Don Harrell; two sisters, Vida Wadley and Buena Horany, and by her son-in-law, Keith McCarson.
