OHS One Act Play fundraiser to showcase local talent
Olney High School One Act Play will host its biggest fundraiser event in recent years. Olney’s Got Talent, a spin off of America’s Got Talent, will highlight about 10 local performers. Though the list of performers is under lock and key, a sneak peak revealed some obvious picks for a talent competition but also well-known Olney residents that are harboring secret talents.
The event will be held at 6 p.m. on Nov. 9 at the HDH Pavilion which is located at 841 Hwy 114 E. in Olney.
For $25, you will receive a baked chicken dinner with roasted red potatoes, green beans, a roll and dessert- not to mention an hour of entertainment.
But, voting for your favorite star will require more than the loudest cheers or a majority vote by judges. Votes will be cast by donation. Say your favorite Olney performer is Redacted , simply cast your monetary vote in the jar titled REDACTED . While the donations are tallied, One Act Play will perform a dancing number.
At the end of the night and the votes (monies) are tallied, the performer with the most donations will win the first ever Olney’s Got Talent!
“The money will go to the drama club, and this is probably the biggest fundraiser we’ve ever had. Usually we have bake sales or something like that,” said Lori Cox who has co-directed the group with Obelea Rue for seven years now.
In the previous six years, One Act Play has advanced to Regionals five times, and to the State level twice.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at Olney Interbank, Olney Floral or through Julie Hinson by calling 940-564-6559. Shuttle service to the HDH Pavilion is also available by calling Valorie Mahler at 940-564-6036.
