Softball season begins for Lady Cubs

The 2024 Olney Lady Cubs softball season is finally here. The softball girls began practicing Jan. 16 and had their first game of the season on Feb. 13, against Millsap High School. Sadly, the varsity lost their game to Millsap 17-0, while the JV team was also beaten 1310.

The head softball coach, Mollie Pace, said that there are 25 girls playing this year and 12 of them are new players. Pace said one of her expectations for the team is for the girls to be competitive in every game they play in. She also said she was looking forward to starting district. Overall, the softball girls are working super hard to improve and are excited to enjoy the heavily anticipated season. Last season, the softball team was 2-14 and placed 7th in district.
