Lady Cubs lose close match to Petrolia

The Olney Lady Cubs played their final away game against Petrolia High School on Friday, Feb. 2. The game was close, but Petrolia won by five points and ended the game 25-20. The first quarter was 7-6, second was 10-4, third was 7-0, and last was 8-3. Sophomore Camryn Castro scored the most points throughout the game, and ended the game with nine points scored.

“During the Petrolia game we came out and got the lead going into halftime, but fell after that half,” senior Ellie Hinson said. “But we stayed together as a team no matter what the score was.”

As the season ends, we’ve asked Castro and Hinson some questions about their basketball season. Castro described her favorite game this season, “My most exciting game was the Moran game when I made 4 three point baskets and finished the game with 18 points.”

Hinson explained her personal strengths and weaknesses.

“Some personal strengths that I think I have is not giving up no matter what, and some weaknesses are getting in my head at some points in the game,” Hinson said.

When asked about the team’s overall progression, Castro said, “Our season in all was pretty rough, but I can definitely tell a difference from our first to last game. I am excited to see what next year holds.”

“I learned this season to never take things for granted and enjoy them while they last. Give everything you got while you have the chance.”
