A big win over Graford helped the Lady Cubs improve their district record to 1-3 last week. Softball action also included a loss at Windthorst.

Graford failed to score as the Lady Cubs recorded a big win in front of a home crowd on Friday, March 28.
Olney’s first run did not come until the third inning, but that is when the flood gates opened and the Lady Cubs posted nine of their 11 runs.
During the third inning, Kristyn Acuna and Farren Garcia were walked and Leslie Rich and Cierra Petronella got on base after being hit by pitches. Hits were recorded by Victoria Morrow, Jennifer Garcia, Cyuss Garcia and Hunter Riggins, who all had singles. Chelsey Acuna got on base on a Graford error, and all Lady Cubs who got on base eventually scored.
In the fourth inning, Jennifer Garcia and Chelsey Acuna each had a single while Rich and Kristyn Acuna were walked and Petronella was hit by a pitch. Points were scored by Jennifer Garcia and Rich to give Olney a big win.
Offensively, the Lady Cubs were led by Chelsey Acuna, who was two-for-three with a double and a single. Jennifer Garcia was two-for-three with two singles and Morrow and Cyuss Garcia were each one-for-three with a single. Farren Garcia was one-for-four with a bunt.
Cyuss Garcia got the win on the mound, striking out seven of the 17 batters she faced. She threw 45 strikes and just 13 balls.
Olney 4, Windthorst 19
On the road Tuesday, March 25, the Olney girls recorded only five hits versus a strong Trojanette team. Victoria Morrow led Olney by going two-for-two with a pair of doubles. She also scored in the first and third innings. Jennifer Garcia had singles in both the first and third innings while Dominique Garcia recorded a bunt in the third and scored one point. The Lady Cubs’ fourth point came in the third inning after Chelsey Acuna got on base with a walk and was later brought home during Morrow’s at-bat.
From the mound, Cyuss Garcia faced 33 batters. She threw 38 balls and 62 strikes, walking only one batter.
The JV Lady Cubs are scheduled to play at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at home versus Seymour. On Friday, April 4, the varsity girls continue district play at home versus Perrin beginning at 5 p.m. On Tuesday, April 8, the Lady Cubs hit the road for a district match at Archer City beginning at 5 p.m.
