A fourth quarter comeback resulted in a win over Throckmorton for the varsity Lady Cubs during a week of action that also included a heartbreaking loss. Olney 36, Throckmorton 29 Throckmorton traveled to Olney to take on a combined JV and varsity Lady Cubs team on Tuesday, Dec. 10. After one quarter of play, Throckmorton held onto a 12-6 lead, and at the half led 17-12. Both teams scored five points in the third period before Olney turned up the heat in the fourth quarter. During that period, the Lady Cubs posted 16 points and held Throckmorton to only seven to get the victory by seven points. Free throws made a big difference for the Lady Cubs, as Olney landed 12 of 18 extra point attempts.

Scoring leader for Olney was Annie Hirsch with 12 points, followed by Chelsey Acuna with 10, Farren Garcia with seven, Makenzie Cook with five and Sydney Montgomery with two. Olney 39, Stamford 40 After running out to a first-half lead, the Lady Cubs let Stamford come from behind and steal a win on Friday, Dec. 13. Olney and Stamford each scored eight in the first period, and at the half the Lady Cubs led 19-15. Third period action saw Stamford climbing back into the game and taking a 30-27 lead. In the final period, Olney outscored Stamford 12-10, but it wasn't enough to squeak by with a win. Lexie Johnson led Olney with 14 points, followed by Hirsch with 10, Cook and Garcia with five each, Jaci Barrientes and Montgomery with two and Linda Williams with one. The Lady Cubs played Monday night at Muenster and will now enjoy a long Christmas break before heading into the Eula Tournament Friday, Dec. 27. On Tuesday, Dec. 31, the girls will play at Perrin-Whitt.
