Obituary: JoAn Key

JoAn Key, age 87, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Grace Care Center in Olney, Texas. Public visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm Monday, August 7, 2023, at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Carpenter, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery in Olney. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

JoAn was born on September 26, 1935, in Young County, Texas to the late Early Lee Arnold and Pauline (Jones) Arnold. She was a lifetime resident of Olney and a faithful member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She received her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education. JoAn taught school in New Mexico and Oklahoma before moving back to Olney in 1980. She also taught elementary school in Olney for many years. JoAn and Clifton Key were married on August 6, 1980 in Olney. JoAn had a great love for music and enjoyed playing the piano and singing as well as performing and teaching. She also enjoyed playing 42 and quilting.

JoAn was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jeanett Davis. JoAn is survived by her husband, Clifton Key of Olney, Texas; one sister, Edna Arnold of Olney, Texas; two daughters: Lydia Barrett of Norman, Oklahoma and Suzanna Barrett of Wichita Falls, Texas; one son, Robert Barrett of Socorro, New Mexico; two step-daughters: Rebecca Key of Wichita Falls, Texas and Alice Musella of Houston, Texas; one step-son, Tom Key of Wichita Falls, Texas; as well as eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
