Bobby Wayne Bruton, age 85, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, in Decatur, Texas. Graveside services with military honors were held at 12 noon on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the Jean Cemetery in Jean, Texas, with Scotte Clark, of Olney, officiating. Arrangements were are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Bobby was born on June 26, 1928, in Henrietta, Texas, to the late R.L. Bruton and Katie (Norvell) Bruton. He and several classmates purposely failed their senior test assuring that they could play one more year of football and graduate in 1947.

Bobby served in the Korean War as a Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class. On Aug. 21, 1954, he married Patsy Thornburg in Waurika, Okla. She preceded him in death on July 12, 1989. He was an oilfield pipeline worker. He moved from Jean to Decatur in 2009, and he was a member of the Church of Christ. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister, Opal Kidd. 

Survivors include his son, Rodney Bruton and wife Frances of Decatur, Texas; daughters Pamela Bruton of Tampa, Fla., and Sheila Creekmore of Van, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
