Johnny Horany, age 98, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at the Mission Ridge Residential Care in Plano, Texas. Celebration services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Olney with Scotte Clark of Olney officiating. Private family burial was held in the Archer City Cemetery in Archer City, Texas. Arrangements were under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Johnny was born on April 17, 1915, in Shawnee, Okla., to the late Shukry and Nabeehah (Mahfood) Horany. He graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Business Science. He moved to Olney in 1937 from Austin, Texas, and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Olney. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Johnny is survived by his daughter, Sarah Watkins and husband Jim of Plano, Texas; brother, Freddy Horany and wife Lou of Olney; two sisters-in-law: Lucille Hays of Olney and Virginia Horany of Wichita Falls; two granddaughters: Allison Watkins and Eleanor Watkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family visitation was held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
