Louis Victor Sykora, age 86, of Olney, Texas, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 in Olney. Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, in the chapel of Lunn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, in the chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Deacon Jim Novak officiating. Interment will be in Megargel Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney. Louis was born Sept. 3, 1926, in Springcreek, Texas, to the late John Jacob and Jana (Benes) Sykora. He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of the Olney area. He was a member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church in Megargel. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army and also served in the U.S. Merchant Marines. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Johnny Sykora; and two sisters: Lillian Wrobliski, and Ailene Sykora. Survivors include two sons: Louis V. Sykora, Jr. and wife Judy of Brownwood, Texas, and John D. Sykora and wife Juanita of Olney, Texas; two daughters: Wanda Weiss and husband Eddie of Brownwood, Texas, and Laurie Wilson and husband David of Brownwood, Texas; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
