Georgia Stevens Kerr, 83, of Lakeway, Texas, passed peacefully from this life, surrounded by loved ones, on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Lakeway Regional Hospital following complications from surgery. Called Tootsie by family, Georgia Ann Kunkel was born Aug. 27, 1930, in Megargel, Texas as the third daughter of Ted and Audrey Kunkel. She attended Megargel High School and North Texas Teachers College. She married James F. "Steve" Stevens, Sr., in March 1950 in Denton, Texas. She worked as a kindergarten teacher and homemaker, raising two sons and a daughter. Georgia and Steve were married 47 years before Steve's passing in 1997. Georgia enjoyed her weekly ladies' card game, meeting friends for breakfast, and going to the movies with her husband Duane, who she met playing doubles tennis in 1997. Married in September 1998, Georgia and Duane once won gold in the Seniors 150+ Tennis Bracket of the Texas State Senior Olympics. Preceded in death by parents, Ted and Audrey Kunkel; older sisters Mary Waggoner and Vada DeFoor and their spouses; and husband, James F. "Steve" Stevens, Sr. Survivors include husband Duane Kerr of 14 years of Lakeway; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Sandy Stevens of Bastrop; son and daughter-in-law David and Sami Stevens ofAustin; daughter and son-in-law Holly and Bob Lackey of Carrollton; granddaughters Mika Murray of Georgetown, SarahWilliams and husband Ben of Austin, Lindsey Gresham of Carrollton, Katie Stevens of Raleigh, N.C., Jamie Gresham and husband Jose Vasquez of Little Elm, Rachel Stevens of Houston; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Matrim; seven step-children and their families; and several loving nieces and nephews. A celebration of Georgia's life will be held from 3 p.m. to5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013. Please contact her family and friends for more information.
