Santa Claus is coming, to Olney

Santa Claus will make a few stops for all Olney boys and girls Dec. 5.

Ole Saint Nick will stop by Olney for tonight's Christmas in the Air, an event in downtown Olney featuring caroling, free S’mores for children and numerous vendors gift for last-minute Christmas gift ideas.

The event will begin with an appearance from Santa Claus, who will be at the Iron Corner, across from the gazebo, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Event organizers encourage attendees to stay for the whole event and sing along to more various traditional Christmas songs

“We just want to be outside, where people can see us and maybe stop and sing,” Organizer Stacy Wade said. “We want people to come and Christmas carol with us. We want people to see Santa, but our main thing is for people to come out and sing with us and get in the Christmas spirit. We have a booklet of 10 songs and a D.J., keyboard player and a lead singer. Throughout the night we have a few traditional songs and a few D.J’d songs in there. We’re going to have a fire pit in case it gets cold and S’mores for the kids. It’s fun and something I started when I came here ... It’s just fun and we want to keep that in our town.”
