OHS One-Act Play wins District contest

The Olney High School One Act Play troupe won the 9AA District competition and the right to move to Bi-District with its performance of “The Book of Dog” by Jiggs Burgess.

The premise of the play is that all dogs are sent by God, especially to each dog owner. The story follows the life and death of a dog named Marvin, played by Mallory Jeske. In the play, each dog can be understood by its owner, and each God-sent dog helps its owner and family get through tough times as it grows to be a family member.

The acting was spot-on – pun intended – and heartfelt as the audience laughed, cried, oohed and awed throughout the play as the OHS OAP troupe and stagehands performed well beyond a high school proficiency.

The following OAP troupe members were recognized for their performance and work during district 9AA competition. Ellie Hinson, Best Stage Manager; Best Crew, OHS (Ellie Hinson, Adrian Gonzalez, Nate Elmore, Logan Phillips); Honorable Mention All-Star Cast: Brooke Orsak, and Morgan Simmons; All-Star Cast: Sawyer Edgington and Allie Barrington; Best Performer: Mallory Jeske; advancing plays: Seymour, Archer City, and Olney. Congratulations, Troupe!
