OHS places second at Holliday UIL meet

OHS places second at Holliday UIL meet

A combined forty-two OHS students from various UIL academic teams traveled to Holliday High School Saturday, Feb. 10, to compete against high schools from conferences 1A to 5A.

These teams have displayed all of their hard work and dedication to their respective teams and Head UIL Coordinator Sherry Livingston said she is confident that these teams are going to go far in terms of competition.

“I feel that we will have many students and teams advance to Regionals and then go on to State,” Livingston said. “Olney has invested greatly in UIL Academics and has been successful in the past. This will continue if we all work together.”

The Accounting team placed second overall, with Allie Barrington placing fifth and Lindsy Piedra placing sixth.

The Calculator Applications team placed second overall, with Aidyn Bitner placing third, Jeffry Flores placing fifth, and Angel Alvarado placing sixth individually.

The Computer Science team placed first overall, with Bitner placing first, Alvarado placing second, Caleb Johnson placing third, Nate Elmore placing fourth, and Brason Brock placing sixth.

The Current Issues and Events team placed third overall.

In Editorial Writing, Braelyn Casteel placed third and Darla Castillo placed fourth.

In Feature Writing, Ben Norris placed second and Lauren Pham placed fifth.

In Headline Writing, Cheyenne Slattery placed fifth.
