The Holy Bible

“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

John 17:3 NASBS

Fellow Christian, may your heart rejoice just knowing that God has left you His word. With such truth as this, you may come to a full revelation of who Jesus Christ is, and what was accomplished on Calvary when He gave up His life.

Just before He entered into His sufferings He said, “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

This is the love story found in the Bible. So with fervent desire and earnest prayer, seek to know more of this great King through reading the Scriptures.

Octavia’s Winslow penned many years ago, “The precious Bible is so full of precious Jesus! How do all its clouds and darkness melt into light and beauty, as He, the Son of righteousness, rises in noontide glory upon its page!

Search it, my reader, with a view of seeing and knowing more of your Redeemer, compared with whom nothing else is worth knowing or making known.”

The Bible is dear to me because it testifies about Jesus and reveals to me His saving power. It demonstrates to me that Jesus is a Redeemer Who is sufficient, all-knowing, and all powerful. For, “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”

To the world, this may seem foolish, but to you who are being saved it is the power of God. The scriptures say concerning this, “Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.”

“For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.”

“The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.”

It’s important to remember that all the scriptures in the Bible are a testament to Jesus Christ, but without the illumination of the Holy Spirit, it falls on deaf ears.

Therefore beloved, if God’s word has come to you proclaiming Jesus as your Savior, strive to be masters of the collection.

The Psalmist tells us concerning those who love God’s word, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”

My friend, rely less on dictionaries, books of philosophy, and other books that do not hold the weight of eternal value. Though many of these books are essential to your education, pursue Jesus with a singular purpose and a precise objective: to know Him.
