Recent rainfall has done nothing to help area lakes, including Lake Cooper, pictured on Tuesday, Aug. 12. Cracked, exposed dirt and foliage are all that remains between the intake to the spillway between Lake Olney and Lake Cooper. At the Monday, Aug. 11, City Council meeting, members learned that citizens of Olney used 340,000-350,000 gallons of water per day over the past week, well over the 300,000 gallon per day total contractually allowed by the city of Wichita Falls. Residents are urged to continue conserving as much water as possible.
