Kenley Lane, 2014 OVFD Fireman of the Year

Members of the Olney Volunteer Fire Department were honored Thursday, Feb. 27, during the 2014 Officer Installation Banquet at the Olney Civic Center. Several special awards were presented during the evening prior to the installation of officers for the current year.

The Fireman of the Year was announced as Kenley Lane. He joined the department in 2011 and has been involved in all of the OVFD’s different events. He was in attendance at 46 different functions and calls throughout 2013, and served as vice president last year. 

Nathen Molina was welcomed as the department’s only new fireman, and Byron Piercy was honored for 20 years of service to the OVFD. 

New officers for 2014 were announced and received the oath of office. They include Ron Keeter, chief; Donald Ickert and Sam Sullivan, assistant chiefs; Homer Molina and Cody Dixon, captains; Ronald Dixon and Kevin Sullivan, lieutenants; Lane, president; Jimmy Smith, vice president; Mathew Ickert, secretary; Casey Keeter, chaplain; and Cutter Dixon, mascot.


Jeff Harvey was master of ceremonies for the event, which featured the first public performance of scenes from the OHS One Act Play production of “The Grapes of Wrath.”
