Residents awoke Monday, Nov. 25, to ice on trees, vehicles and railings following a weekend of steady winter weather warnings that covered the entire area. Arctic air met with moisture to cause sleet and freezing rain Friday, Nov. 22. Olney ISD closed at 1:30 p.m. Friday as a precaution, though conditions in the immediate area never became dangerous throughout the weekend. Moisture continued to fall in the form of rain, sleet and freezing rain throughout the weekend, with another string of storms passing through late Sunday, Nov. 24, and early Monday, Nov. 25. Very few travel problems were reported throughout the local area as a result of the cold temperatures.
