Members of the Pride of Olney High School Band received a "Superior" rating at UIL Region 2 Marching Contest on Saturday, Oct. 19, and will compete in the area round. The Region 2 contest for Class A through 4A bands was held at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls.
The band received a Division I rating from each of the three judges. Judges for the event were Phil Anthony (retired) from Lubbock, Michael Marsh from Sherman and Don Thoede (retired) from Clifton.
Eight Class A bands received first divisions to advance to the area marching contest, to be held in Northwest Stadium in Justin on Saturday, Oct. 26. Twelve bands from five regions will be in the competition vying for three spots at the state marching contest, which will be held Nov. 4-5 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
The OHS band will march at 3:30 p.m. Saturday for the area competition. Other bands certifird to the area contest from Region 2 include Anson, Archer City, Haskell, Knox City, Seymour, Throckmorton and Windthorst.
