The opening phase of a Olney's first new housing addition in more than 30 years began last week, with construction slated to start very soon in the northwest corner of Olney. The work is being completed by Maximum Design Ventures, a home construction company operated by Wes Cottongame of Graham and his partner, Chuck Worrell. "They're putting in an addition to hold eight new houses," said Jake Bailey. "I think the last new development-type houses are on Highland." Bailey and two local businessmen helped make it possible by recruiting the builder, who has been constructing around 100 homes a year throughout the North Texas area, to come to Olney. "We heard about a builder in Graham who was building houses at affordable prices," he said. "We have a need for new, affordable housing in Olney. We're just trying to help facilitate the builder."
