Dignitaries, special guests, vendors and employees were all present for a special presentation honoring Air Tractor, Inc., of Olney for the delivery of its 3,000th plane. The AT-502B, which was on display in the hangar during the entire event, was sold to Agropecuaria Maggi, Ltda., of Sapezal, Mato Grosso, Brazil.
“Our 3,000th airplane didn’t just happen,” said Jim Hirsch, Air Tractor president. “There’s a lot of hard work that went into that.”
He cited work done by the staff members at Air Tractor, who thanks to the company’s founder, the late Leland Snow, are also its owners. He said the advancements made in production and the hard work by employees show their dedication to continuing Snow’s legacy and intentions to make Air Tractor the world’s greatest agricultural aviation company.
Hirsch went on to recognize Air Tractor’s dealers, export financiers, vendors and others for their hand in helping the company grow and prosper over the years. Pratt & Whitney was also recognized as being a great partner in that this is the 50th year it has produced the PT-6 engine, which is used in many Air Tractor planes.
Senator John Cornyn sent a letter to be read at the event, and commended everyone on the success of Air Tractor.
Dist. 30 State Senator Craig Estes was on hand to greet employees and visitors, and pledged his desire to keep making sure Texas continues develop economically.
