Scoot “Tootsie” McClelland, age 88, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Hamilton Hospital in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Olney with Kelly Russell, pastor of First Baptist Church of Vernon, Texas, officiating. Interment will follow in the Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Scoot was born Sept. 12, 1924, in Valdosta, Ga., to the late John and Natalie (Sirmons) Williams. She graduated from Valdosta Senior High School in 1941 and from the New York Institute of Dietetics in 1944. She had worked as a dietitian in the healthcare industry. Scoot moved to Olney, Texas, in 1977 from Mississippi and was a member of First Baptist Church of Olney.
Scoot was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Marjorie Moran and Babe Jenkins.
Survivors include her son, Mark McClelland, and wife Gay Lynn of Olney, Texas; two grandchildren, Lyndsey (McClelland) Miller and husband Reid of Fort Worth, Texas and Hayden McClelland of Olney, Texas; and one niece, Natalie Overman of Newnan, Ga.
Family visitation will be Friday, June 14, 2013 from 6-7 p.m. in the chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney.
