Vivian Garcia and Laura Garcia, both 2013 graduates of Olney High School and four-year standouts on the softball diamond, were named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association 1A All-State Softball Team. 

Vivian Garcia was First Team All-District pitcher in 2013, and had also been named to the Second Team All-District as pitcher in 2009. This year, her batting average was .492 and included eight doubles, a triple and three home runs. Her on base percentage was .528 and her slugging percentage was .724. On the mound, Vivian pitched 132 innings, recording 172 strike outs and only 38 walks.

Laura Garcia was the District 8A MVP in 2013, and earned the honor in a district that had three of its teams play in the regional quarterfinals. She was the First Team Catcher in both 2011 and 2012 and will be playing third base at Hutchins College in Hutchins, Kan. Her batting average was .421, her on base percentage was .447 and her slugging percentage was .568. During the season she had two doubles, a triple, one home run and 21 RBIs. During Laura’s time as catcher, her opponents had less than one stolen base attempt on average.
