Baseball Cubs beat Wildcats

Olney Cubs baseball played the Archer City Wildcats Friday, April 12, winning 12-4, advanced their record to 8-9-1, and tied Seymour for second in the district. During the game, senior Jordan Jacoba (#21) hit a homerun and junior Brodie Hagle (#4) hit a grand slam, bringing in four runs.

“Everyone is playing well, and our best baseball is when we’re playing together and working hard to secure the number 2 in district,” Hagle said. “It was a great feeling seeing the team get into it and feeding off the energy.”

Other offensive standouts include sophomore Cayson Hope (#5) with two hits, senior Brady Lisle (#1) with one hit, and senior Cyler Sosa (#10) with one hit. Lisle started the game pitching with five hits allowed, three runs, one walk, and four strikeouts. Jacoba ended the game pitching with four hits allowed, one run allowed, one walk, and five strikeouts.

“I’m really happy with how the year has gone,” Braden Williams, varsity baseball coach, said. “We have been playing better as the season has progressed and we are playing our best baseball.”
