OJH competes at State TMSCA

Thirty-two Olney Junior High students represented OISD at the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association Middle School State Championship Meet in San Antonio on Saturday, April 13.

Students were up against the best in Texas showcasing their skills in Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Mathematics and Science.

OJH brought home 4th place in the 1A/2A Sweepstakes contest out of a total of nineteen schools represented from all over the state.

Our Number Sense team brought home sixth place with the following students earning a medal in their grade level. 8th grade: Mackenzie Berngen- 13th, 7th grade: Jett Brock-10th, Odin Savard-13th, and Harris Sullivan 16th, 6th grade: Zeph Tejada-2nd, Trent Berngen-7th, and Zayden Adkins-18th.

The Calculator Applications team earned seventh place with efforts from: 8th grade AJ Solano- 16th, 7th grade Harris Sullivan-19th, and 6th grade Zeph Tejada-1st, Calyn Johnson-4th, Libby Lane-12th, and Leigha Hampton and Laney Kimbro who tied for 16th.

Mathematics showed the greatest gain from previous meets earning third place team honors.

Medallists include 8th grade: Mackenzie Berngen-8th and Shaine Grard-20th; 7th Grade: Jett Brock-3rd, Odin Savard-6th, and Pedro Gonzalez and Wesley Symank tied for 17th; 6th Grade: Zeph Tejada-2nd, Trent Berngen-3rd, and Jaxon Bedford 13th.

Many students shined in Science as OJH brought home the 4th place team. Medaling in the science competition: 8th grade: William Caffey-11th, Jackson Spurlock-13th, Crayton Nash-16th, and Jasmine Bryan-18th; 7th grade: Odin Savard-2nd, Abram Dinwiddie-3rd, Jett Brock-14th, Grace Jeske-15th, Wesley Symank- 16th, and Harris Sullivan-18th; 6th Grade: Laney Kimbro-5th, Clara Symank-7th, Kate Santibanez- 8th, Miles Branum- 20th.

These students are coached by Dr. Greg Roach and Ms. Rhonda Jeske-Geter.
